For the men in the audience… hmm, you might want to move along or direct your wife to this column today.

I have been having quite a bit pain over the last month plus, which has been definitely “cramping my style” (forgive the pun!). I saw a gyn Wednesday this week, and with my husband and the Lord, I have decided to get a hysterectomy in addition to taking out the offending cyst (which is probably more of a “fluid-filled fallopian tube”). My mother had a hysterectomy due to fibroids, so there is a bit of familly history for getting the hysterectomy done. I really don't want to have to go back under the knife in a few years. I know this is a very personal decision and there are so many sides and facets for discussion, with alternative therapies and such. I just know I’ve been hurting for quite a long time and I’m ready to have it over…. In addition to praying about it and feeling that I have liberty from the Lord in this action. I’ll still have my left ovary, so I plan to go on the journey to menopause naturally.

So the gyn  will be checking her schedule, the hospital's schedule, and my own Dr's schedule so he can scrub up with her and be there for me. It could be a couple of weeks before I hear back, and that's when I need to call to check on it, if I don't hear back before then. She said it might easily be decided and placed on the calendar before 2 weeks go by, which they'll contact me about the details. She's going out of town the first week of September, and knows I'm ready to be on the other side of this, so it's vaguely possible to have it done next week---will just have to wait and see.

On top of that announcement, my husband is without “regular employment” but is busy with interviews, applications, and has a few contract jobs. Thankfully, our health insurance is not tied to his work, so no Cobra payments. So far, so good. We’re not destitute or anything and have a lot of food stored up in the freezer and on the shelves. Having a house totally paid off is another blessing!

This week and next are “crunch” times for me. I do three newsletters a month. Two are homeschool groups and the third is a dog obedience club’s newsletter. I have one to print, one that may be done (awaiting approval from the board & then others in the group will print & distribute it), and the other not started yet. Thankfully, I have an extra week (next week) due to the Labor Day holiday which will postpone one newsletter by a week.

All of this coming after a 5 day get-away down to the Texas State Homeschool Convention in Houston this last weekend.  And that was after 2 weeks in Florida for a “Mom’s Extended Night Out.”  So, it’s been pretty busy around here, to say the least!

Next week, I’ll be sharing about resources that I’ve come across that may be helpful for those homeschooling only one.
