In your email, PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR BLOG LINK! I will be copying and pasting this information into ONE "mega" post on Fridays. I may not be able to include every response that I get, depending upon the # of comments sent to me. I will be keeping ALL comments in a file because I may be able to use them again with a different discussion!
YOUR TIPS FOR THE WEEK!
Ok, only 2 people sent me tips for this week and it was an easy topic! The rest of the tips below are ones that I stumbled upon in reading through "the last 100 entries" each day. If the lack of interest in Frugal Friday postings continues, then that's fine. I'm going to give this project until September 9th and will decide if I'm going to continue it after we take our quarter break the following week. If you want to see this weekly post continue, then I need to receive tips from YOU!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some frugal tips from Stacy, a homeschooling mom who enjoys reading Frugal Friday tips here at my blog:
If you have a bread thrift store nearby, by all means shop there! I get my favorite name brand loaves (which typically sell for over $3 each) for at least half off of the retail price. The bread is not old, it's just overstock or close to expiration in some cases, but it's fresh bread. You can even place extra loaves in the freezer or fridge so that you never run out. My bread store has a money card that is validated every time you make a purchase. When you've purchased $25 worth of bread, you get two loaves free! They also put "Buy one get one free" coupons in your bag quite often. What a deal! Furthermore, my bread thrift store sells snacks, hamburger and hotdog buns, rolls, english muffins, and more...all at a discount.
Don't buy birthday cards if you're giving a gift. Just put a nice To/From sticker on the package and you're done! Most people don't keep the cards for long anyway and that's more money in *your* pocket! And don't forget to save gift bags that you've received gifts in. Recycle them for gifts that *you* give!
Don't waste money subscribing to magazines. You can check them out of the library and return them when you're done. You can also read them at the grocery store while you're waiting in long lines. That means no money out of your pocket and no clutter. If you absolutely can't do without a magazine, why not ask for it as a gift from a friend or family member.
Don't pay retail for books. Shop for books at thrift stores, library sales, and online discount stores. You'll save tons!
When seasonal items go on clearance pick them up for next year. You can save 50%-75% off the original price this way.

Another great tip from Layna:
My children love to do puzzles. They are young so
they mostly do the 24 piece puzzles without the frame. I had boxes and boxes of puzzle pieces and they would get lost and misplaced and my 4 year old would be so upset when he tried to work a puzzle andsome of the pieces were missing. I decided to cut the picture off the box, this way my child would know what the finished puzzle should look like. Then, I wrote a letter on the back of each piece of each puzzle. For example: if I had 4 different puzzles and one was of Noah's ark, another was Veggie tales, Spiderman, and Winnie the Pooh. On the back of the Noah's Ark pzzle pieces I put N, the on Veggie tale I wrote V, etc. This way I could store all of the puzzle pieces and covers in one gallon baggie and he could choose which puzzle to do by matching up the letters on the back. He could also count how many Ns there were to see if there were 24 before doing the puzzle. Preschool with puzzles. It works for us. ------------------------------------------
Gotta love Ebay! by Brenda
I just bought 7 pairs of pants/jeans, 11 long-sleeved shirts, 1 sweatshirt, and 1 jacket in sizes 4 and 5 for $72 including shipping. Woo hoo! That's about $3.60 each piece.... not bad at all.
I've also been getting Michael Carhartt clothes... t-shirts and jeans for about 1/2 original price. And all was done from the comfort of my living room... I love that even more. -------------------------------------------
Tuesday's Frugal Decor - Wonderful Walls by Dena
(Kris' note: Dena has decor tips every Tuesday, so check it out!)
Today I'm going to share some inexpensive wall ideas. I don't think I've yet explained the condition of this house when we first bought it. To give you an idea, let me just say that we paid $13,000 for a 3200 sf house. Does that give you an inkling of the kind of shape it was in?
Needless to say, the walls needed some major work and previous remodelers (I use that term loosely) had done some serious damage. Here are my cheap fixes in a few rooms. I'm hoping the pics give you an idea of the textures. (Had to hide MANY sins)

A Quick, Easy (and cheap) Review System... posted by "the Crib Chick"
Index card binders. And flipping through them just takes a few minutes. A worthwhile few minutes that keeps principles and definitions fresh over long breaks. Like when you have a new baby. And then move. Across the country.

Saving Money posted by Covenant Academy
So, I have taken on a new project. Saving Money! After dh and I made a list of our monthly and yearly expenses we realized that we NEED to do a better job of living within our means. We looked at our list and tried to find areas where we could do better.
1. No more lawn service. (Hence, the birth of Lawn Day!)
2. Planning out our weekly menu. (Reduces the chance of getting take out)
3. I joined The Grocery Game. (A great site that does all of the research of using coupons for you. It gives you a list of items on sale at your local grocery store (done by zip code) and combines it with the coupons in your local news paper each week. Wonderful!!!)
4. I am going to try making my own cleaning products. I have found recipes for an all purpose cleaner, window cleaner, floor cleaner to refill my Swiffer Jet, furniture polish, and toilet cleaner.
5. I am going to try making my own baby wipes. (using paper towels!!!)
6. I am going to try buying certain items in bulk at BJs.
7. The air condition has been turned up (or is it down). Anyway, it is hotter in here. So the ceiling fans are being used more.
8. We are decluttering and taking stuff to Goodwill. (nice tax deduction)
9. We are going to try using more store brand items as opposed to name brands.
10. I have gotten refunds on a couple of magazines that I just don't have time to read.
11. We are going to buy less pre-packaged foods. (cookies, crackers, chips, etc.)
I am still researching and may be adding more to the list. I HOPE that all of this effort makes a big difference. We shall see.

Great Savings During Our Shopping Trip Yesterday posted by Shannon
We went on a shopping trip yesterday. I found some great deals. We were mainly shopping for school supplies and for science lab supplies.
Also, Skyes' sweet 16 birthday party is coming up in November, and we are renting a hall for a party/dance.
At Debs in the mall we found a couple of semi formal dresses for Skye and Zowie to wear. If I remeber, I will take pictures when my father brings my digital camera back so you can all see how nice they look.
Skyes Dress, which is pink with sequins - reg. $25.99, clearance $12.99
Zowies which is black with green trim - Originally $39.99, Clearance $10.00
total savings of $46.77
At Payless I purchased them each a nice pair of dress shoes to go with their dresses. They were $12.99 a pair, with one pair beigh 1/2 off for a savings of $6.50
Autumn window clings were on sale at Joann Fabric yesterday. I purchased 2 reg. $1.99 each, for $1.19 each. Total savings of $1.60.
At Rite Aid I purchased school supplies, paying $7 and some change. I always amaze Scott, who works there. This time I saved $18 and some changed, so I saved a lot more than I paid. I purchased such items as notebooks at 3 for $1.00 and loose leafe paper at 2 for $1.00
Grand total savings of $73.00 plus change.

Grocery shopping posted by Martha
Albertsons has had some really good deals lately. They had this one week a 10 for $20 and then get $5 off if you buy 10. I had some coupons on some mayonaise so got it even cheaper. Then yesterday they had a sale on some things 10 for $15 and get $5 if you buy 10. They had some cereal for that and granola bars so I thought I would take a look as I am going to be traveling this week, and Fred will be home alone and so I need some easy food around. I picked out a few things including some bags of fancy frozen vegetables that were about 24 oz., granola bars, a couple boxes of cereal, a 6 pack of small yogurts, and then decided to get some brownie mix too. It was stuff I do not usually buy and I was wondering if I should do it. When I got to the checkout and she finished scanning she said "$8.50!" I asked to make sure that was the right total and still cannot figure it out, but she sais "Yes, $8.50" So, I got everything for .85 each. Anyhow, that is a pretty good price for the cenvenience foods I bought and maybe it will make getting ready for my trip a bit easier!
