The Busy Woman ~ Scheduling Gives Peace of Mind
12:38 AM, Sep. 30, 2006
I was talking on the phone with a customer the other day. We went over personalities and couldn't help but laugh. The Busy Woman's Daily Plannerฎ does a simplified personalities test and often we can just tell what personality type someone is. In this case, I told her how funny (weird) I am because I either need complete silence or to have company when cleaning or organizing. I wanted to reorganize my office desk (again). So I called Nikki to come in and help me decide about some things. She laughed at me when I was done saying that I always know what I'm doing but just want her for company. She's right! Type B's love company. We love to share stories, we love to multitask. It's just our nature. Occasionally we can stick to one task for a long time or until it's done, (when we can get someone to watch the kids - if you have any). For the most part, we're always starting something, volunteering for things, and generally enjoying people. But we don't finish all of our projects and many things are started but left undone. Cleaning, organizing, and other things can overwhelm us at times. And this is why we need a schedule. When you get on a schedule, you're like a well oiled machine. Schedule in FREE TIME and you won't be a slave to your schedule. You're the one who writes it. Schedule in Cleaning, organizing, and other things and you'll have more free time and less stress. Otherwise you feel like you're spinning your wheels. You'll continue searching for things that are not in a proper place. I get the most phone calls from Type B's and we almost always end up laughing because they know they love to socialize and when we talk about the personalities it helps them to feel good about who they are. However... Type B's need to tighten up. And they know it or they wouldn't be calling me. They're always looking for a better solution to their disorganization or overwhelming tasks. Unfortunately it's difficult for them to stick with a planning system because most of them are overwhelming or not properly set up. Our brains think in time increment order. When we go through our daily appointments, each one has a certain time they are supposed to take place. That's how it works. And so far no one has disagreed with me. Which brings me back to my chat with yet another customer. We went over the many different styles of planners and their offerings. She decided to take my advice and start with less planner pages and work her way up to more if need be. "You can always buy more, but you lose money when you buy more than what you can handle or need." Reason: People who get more than they can handle usually give up. When I get overwhelmed or have more than I can handle, I usually pick up the phone to call a buddy. If someone can't come over I've trained myself over the past 25 years to just dive in after getting a Mocha. {wink} Scheduling gives you absolutes in your day. Email me if you'd like to read it and I'll send it right over! ฉ2006 Susie Glennan BIO: Susie Glennan has been happily married since 1982, is mom to 3, and is a Home Maker, Teacher, Author, Professional Speaker, Toastmaster, President of The Busy Woman, Inc., DBA - The Busy Woman's Daily Plannerฎ.
