SPONSOR OF THE WEEK: Ann Tatum and the My Book of State History
This week, we have a very exciting new product to give away to two lucky bloggers chosen by Spunky! Each winning blogger will receive a CD of the following item to use with their family:

This 27-page unit is a very relaxed study of the history, geography, and symbols of your state designed to help your elementary-aged children learn how to find information about their state on their own and relate it to others in an understandable way. When you're finished, each of your children will have their own notebook of information that they have completed themselves!
This unit study includes:
Geography:

where your state is located within the U.S.
-
the difference between a physical and political map
-
location of important physical features in your state, ie. rivers, mountains, lakes
-
names of neighboring states
History:
Science:
-
native plants
-
native animals
-
weather
Teacher helps:
-
4 pages of notes on how to use this study to help
your child create their own State History notebook
-
bibliography of helpful books - easily found in your public library
-
...and don't worry Mom, I provide websites for FREE printable outline maps &
most of the information you'll need to complete this book
State Symbols
State Song
Field Trip Ideas
and more about your capitol, county, city, & governor!
Twenty-one pages are ready-to-use notebook pages for your child to complete. These can be printed off and 3-hole punched for a folder or slipped into page protectors and put in a binder. All pages are reproducible for your families personal use.
I created this study for my own 10-year-old daughter and the photos of the completed notebook on this page are hers. She did hers on our state, Texas, but your child will fill in the pages with information about your state. I like to call these "notebook starters" because they get the kids started thinking and they always add something to the pages I created.
All you absolutely need for this unit is this ebook (pdf format), a computer, Adobe Acrobat Reader (available FREE on their website), paper, pencils, a library card, and internet access!
