You would think that after all this time, the fact that homeschooling is legal in all 50 states, that homeschoolers out perform their public school counterparts and that many colleges and universities are seeking out homeschooled students, the public school system would be bored to death with trying to take control of homeschoolers. Not so, and Homeschool Nations North Carolina has a new threat on their hands.
The DNPE is asking for more information than is required by law. This year North Carolina homeschoolers were asked to go to the school office on November 2nd. Some of the items requested that you bring are stated to be optional, while others are not. If you live in North Carolina you need to read this article. Even if you are not affected by this request, it helps to know what your state is up to. Dont bury your head in the sand and believe that you are safe.
Not sure exactly what the North Carolina homeschool law states? You can find out HERE. Every homeschooler in every state should know the law regarding homeschooling. Your state may be homeschool friendly, but knowing the law certainly gives you an advantage as well as makes you sound intelligent when talking to others about it.
Be sure and check out Homeschool Nations North Carolina on a regular basis for information on field trips, activities, and homeschool support. Share what your area support group is doing as well.
