With three little girls, we have hair things galore. (Actually I had quite a few even before children!) I've discovered that hair do-dads have a habit of running wild if not well containerized.
A fishing tackle box is a handy solution for storing little barrettes, clips, and bows. Round pony tail holders do well on carabiner key clips.
For larger barrettes, I like a yarn rope. To make the rope, choose three yarn colors that suit your fancy, and cut 8-10 strands of each color. Knot one end leaving a bit of tassel at the top, and braid on down. At the end of your braid, knot and tassel again, then hang it on the wall with a small nail. Your barrettes are no longer in a jumbled heap, but neatly accessible!
