I know I should be writing about home schooling. But God writes with me and this is something I just experienced. WHAT validation!!! How many of you homeschool AND run a business?

The fear to act upon dreams keeps us from success. In order to increase we must first change the way we measure our success. We often get trapped in short-term thinking. But when we dare to dream big and believe in that dream, we can set out to obtain the dream. Recently I attended a seminar about these very things. The main focus was on defense and backups.

Some people think that people who have a good defense system and backups in place are not positive or that they lack true faith. And that’s so far from the truth. As my husband often says, “God gave us a brain and we’re to put it to good use.” Having a good defense system and backups just makes good business sense. It means that you have a plan of action and if that plans fails, you move to plan B. It’s the same as when the military trains you to always be prepared. How? They have great defense and backups.

Here are some things I “gleaned and learned”:
1. Have an “I am able” mindset.
2. Have a clear objective – What will it take and what price will you pay?
3. Have an action plan. Write it down so you can refer back to it. This will have #2 listed in it.
4. Identify resistant forces that will try to keep you from achieving #s 1 – 3. I’ve experienced this time and time again. I’ve shared information with those I believe to be true to me and before I know it they talk me out of something I dreamed of doing.
5. Protect proprietary information and ideas from outsiders.
6. Make sure you have balance between your offense and defense.

Another list of keys to meditate on:
1. How fast can I get there and how much profit to I get to keep?
2. Don’t get trapped in short-term thinking. Life is a collection of seasons. Learn when a season is over and it’s time for a new season to begin.
3. Never risk more than you’re willing to lose.
4. Don’t get involved in anything big if you don’t understand it.
5. Demand information.
6. Seek Godly counsel, but don’t let others make decisions for you.
7. If you’re unsure, pray and wait.

Here are some great sayings: Indecision can be the key to success when you don’t have the information. People often think indecision kills a business. However, you must have all the information necessary to make a proper decision.

The key phrases for the 4 days were, “Offense sells the tickets. Defense wins the game.” “Success is easy to obtain, difficult to maintain.”

Chew on this for a while and see what happens.
