Make room for a Muslim celebration at school. First, it's seven year olds role-playing drinking and partying with drug dealers (as part of the school curriculum). Now it's Islam creeping in. Your kids cannot be salt and light in state school any more than they should try to evangelize hookers on Saturday night in the city. YOU be salt and light; your kids are watching...learning. Model Christ to them now while they are young. Disciple them. Teach them God's word and how to rightly divide it. Don't send them out to "minister" to such darkness without you - that's not right. Scripture teaches the opposite, that we are to bring our children up in the Lord...that we are to train them up in a way they should go (that means we KEEP them).
UK parents: Keep them home where they belong. Teach them Truth. Homeschool them. Start HERE. These wonderful folks can help.
Nov. 20, 2006 - you are so right
I remember very clearly, and tell everyone I can, when I sent my two prescious boys down the road to public school two September's ago. We had been apart from Daddy for 6 months because our house wouldn't sell, and he had started a new job, a tormented little 3yr old had just left our home ( we were foster parents for over 4yrs ), we were in the process of adopting a little boy ( that later we were rejected for ) and my youngest was really struggling with a learning disability we did not know he had. All of this led me to fall into the trap of "maybe I really am doing the wrong thing by schooling at home. Maybe sending them off will give me some breathing space and restore my sanity. Praise God, it did! Let me tell you how.
The Principal had the gall to say to my face the following: " you know your children better than we do up to this point, but we will know them the best by the end of this year ". She is right. We never did finish the year at that school...one of the miriad of reasons we brought our kids back home, and intend to keep them
right where they belong.
thank you for being a voice calling out in the wilderness, and for continuing to prepare the way.

When we were kids, we didn't evangelize hookers, but we did go passing out tracts in front of a gay bar on a Saturday night. They were more open to the Gospel and friendly than a lot "straight" people. We had some very interesting conversations. You should'a seen some of these characters! Wish I still had time for street ministry, those were the good old days.
