I see so much waste all around me. Our world is being filled with trash . It is time for us to pay attention to all that we are doing. One might say but I am only one person. One person can make a world of change. So this holiday season lets try to give our mother earth a lovely gift of recycling. See what things you might be able to change about your homeschooling day.
Recycling in our classroom or schooling day.
1. Before beginning a new school year you can look through the supplies you have. Reuse folders and binders. Pass on books you no longer need. Any paper written on can be saved and used as scratch paper .
2. Used paper can also be flipped over and use the other side for printing. We have a printing box. So when we are finished with something and we are not saving it we then put it in our recycle box. It can then be used as scratch paper , drawing paper or print paper in your computer using the back. This also saves on the wallet.
3. Waste from packing generates 30 percent of our waste in a year. So try to purchase things with minimal packaging.
4. Use nontoxic products, inks and art supplies, such as batteries with less mercury, vegetable-based inks, and water-based paints.
5.Try to purchase durable products. Binders you know will last awhile. You can use sticker to label them and then when using it for something else just place another sticker over that label and relabel.
6. Save plastic milk jugs for painting projects. Or cut the tops off leaving the handles to store supplies inside. If you search on the net there a ton of crafts for milk jugs
7. I found some great things to do with old pc of Crayons
I love the one with making old Crayons into new chunky crayons and the glitter crayons are a good idea too.
8. Tin cans can be made into pencil holders or luminaries.
9. Egg cartons can be saved and used as paint cups or sorting games. Just be careful to have the plastic cartons that you can wash very well if you intend to use this idea. You can also use the foam from meat trays or the plastic tv dinner trays. Please wash throughly.
10. For paint we like to use the new babyfood containers. They have lids that close . So you can put the paint in the containe, paint and when you are finished just put the lid on for later use.
You can also use them for small beads or sewing supplies.
If you have some other recycle tips that you use in your classroom please feel free to let us know what they are.
