The doors continue to slam close. Let's pray and ask the Lord to swing them wide open. It's a form of slavery when the government owns your children - for ANY number of hours. And yes, German parents are "welcome" to enroll their children in private schools, but why? It's enforced, compulsory. Reminds me too much of slavery. I'm going to pray for our brothers and sisters there; how difficult this is for so many families right now!

Gena, it is so sad. We'll be praying too.
It makes me angry too. How we take for granted the freedoms that we have here! My heart goes out to those suffering friends in Germany.
Incidentally, the man who wrote that article was a classmate of mine in college. Small world, huh!
Blessings,
Karen

We have to be SO careful here. We are only allowed to homeschool under the grace of the Status of Forces Agreement, but should Germany ever decide to rescind that permission, we would be in the same boat as the Germans. We are discouraged from being "out and about" on the economy during school hours. We cannot lobby or demonstrate in favor of homeschooling rights for Germans for fear of losing our own permission to keep our children home. We continue to pray each day for God's grace to open the doors of opportunity for German homeschoolers.
