What does unschooling have to do with Christmas? Everything! I know so many Moms who say "we take the entire month of December off, just so we can concentrate on Christmas!" Well, I say, "Homeschooling Is Christmas!" Not to be irreverent, but this time of the year is rich, especially for a Christian family. Right now we are reading through an Advent book, we are learning so much from memorizing new Christmas Hymns, making gifts, decorations, learning.......yes, it is a tremendous learning time. One year we studied the names of God during this month. We have learned about hymns and how they came about. Christmas around the world---my kids have been asking about that a lot and so we are seeing what we can find out. So much information, so little time! Ditch the textbook stuff and get on with life and learning these next few weeks!
A blogger mom had shared that one of her children was having a rebellious attitude, and was asking for help. I think that if your children are not wanting to do anything that is set before them, that something has stolen their excitement and joy about learning. Take a step back, and see (and pray) about what needs to change. Your heavenly Father knows what you need before you even ask! He gave us these kids, He will help us with them.
Keep your holiday fun, simple and joyful. Mom, even if you are stressed you can have a change of heart, and you can set the tone for a contented holiday. And know that your friends here at HSB will pray for you and lift you up before the Lord when you need it! Just let us know.
Have a blessed week everyone!
Be sure to stop over at my personal blog.
