There isn't a subject homeschoolers can't learn when applying the Trivium. Below is a chart I created in order to illustrate the stages of the Trivium when applied to musical notations. I filled out the first six blocks, and left the others empty. If you like studying music you can fill the rest out by using a musical dictionary. Borrow one from the library.
Grammar Stage of Term is the name of a musical notation.
Logic Stage of Function, is understanding the musical notation.
Rhetoric Stage of Application/Usage, is the practical application of knowing and understanding the musical notations.

Musical Staff
A musical staff has five lines and four spaces.
Music is written on a musical staff.
At the beginning of each staff we place an object called a "clef".
The two most common "clefs" are the "treble" clef and the "bass" clef.
When joined together they form "The Grand Staff"
Notes
A musical symbol used to represent a musical tone, indicating the pitch by its position on a staff.
Music notes are not of equal duration. Some notes are long others short.
