Dear Daughters, Mothers, and Grandmothers,

     Sometime ago my daughters and I made a wonderful discovery. We became aware of a period in a girl’s life that is quite lost to our culture. We made this discovery mainly through our exposure to the Elsie Dinsmore Series: Elsie’s Childhood, Elsie’s Girlhood, and Elsie’s Womanhood. We realized there was no Elsie’s Teenagehood, because there was no such thing as teenagers or adolescence in Elsie’s day. What a relief! We both could enjoy girlhood without feeling that it was over so soon. As far as we can tell, girlhood was anywhere from age ten to  eighteen.
     Years ago, we began collecting old books on various subjects including virtuous living, etiquette, home-making, sewing, and paper dolls. The Lord gave us a vision to include excerpts from those books in a publication called The Girlhood Home Companion. It is our desire to share the timeless wisdom of yesterday’s writers with you.
    We also like to include new articles and stories from daughters, mothers, and grandmothers on Godly character, homemaking, and the womanly arts, so feel free to submit all devotionals, stories, poems, and articles for the new Girlhood Home Companion to the link below. We look forward to hearing from you.
    As my daughters continue to grow and mature, the Lord has given us many beautiful ways to celebrate His grace and love through the joy of girlhood. May you be encouraged and delighted with the blessing the Lord has given you in uniquely being a girl.
