“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6
******************
Sometimes my children ask me WHY they have to be learning something that I think may be important for their future. They don’t see the future – only today – and today it isn’t fun. But being one who has been through childhood and most of adulthood, I have a perspective they don’t have. I have knowledge of their God-given abilities that they may not see, and I require “good works” from them considering these things, knowing that these things I require today will make it easier to find the things “God has before ordained that they should walk in” when they are older. Don’t lose your confidence! God is working in your children!
Likewise, our own confidence is built when we remember what the LORD has done for us and through us in the past, and how these things have worked out for our good, and therefore, we know that He is performing a good work in us today and preparing us for the future. ~dlw
