Help Is On The Way!

Things have changed a little around here at HSB. Sometimes change can be hard. I know for myself I don't take big changes very well. I tend to pout, complain and whine. I stomp my feet and rebel.

To find my blog stuff all messed about was rather irritating. However, my blog wasn't really messed up. The part I own was still there. It was the part the HSB owned that had changed and in some ways was affecting my blog, but for my own protection and benefit.

The changes that have been made at HSB are confusing mainly because things aren't where they used to be and more to the point aren't where you would have put them! When people are confused they tend to get mad.

To add to all the drama of the occasion, the upgrade didn't go off as smoothly as planned. If it had, and all of you had woken up the next day and logged on to HSB you would have seen the changes, but you wouldn't have experienced all the problems that have made so much of this so very frustrating. If you think you're frustrated, try being the support team working on this! They aren't deliberatly messing with our heads, they want this to be fixed even more than we do.

Due to the all the confusion and the questions many of you have had, a new blog has been set up called HSB Tech Help. This blog is mainly a place to go read HOW TO, and not a place to lodge your complaints. It will help you to understand the new set up, direct you to some cool new features and explain a little bit about what is being done to make things better.

So, don't give up just yet. Give it a chance. Egypt may have had its leeks and onions, but this so called desert is going to take us someplace!

I appreciate just reading this post, knowing that tech support is working toward a solution! My husband works in IT and I know how hard his job can be. People can get nasty, especially when they aren't able to access their e-mail!
My response has been to take a break, and although I've missed HSB, it's been one less "distraction" in a very busy season! I am looking forward to everything moving smoothly again!

I was in IT for over 15 years, lived through many system conversions and upgrades...they are tough but necessary undertakings. Thank you for working so hard to make HSB better. Technology changes so quickly and we have to keep up. You guys are doing great!

You said, "the things that HSB owned changed, not what we owned." The files that were uploaded were owned by myself and the person that designed them. They are gone.

Also, it is one thing for HSB to announce. Back up your blog, we are going to be down on Sunday for "maintenance". It is another to transfer everything to a new, larger server. Making huge changes to the features of how we communicate within the HSB community.

Don't get me wrong, I love HSB. But Gena Suarez's passion for homeschooling is the #1 reason I will stick it out with HSB.

So, yes we will all adapt. And a few, who were already dissatisfied with something, will jump ship. And that is all a part of this earthly life.

THanks, HSB Crew. I appreciate all you do. Since I also blog at homesteadblogger.com ... this upgrade isn't too shocking for me. Looks familiar, although a bit less pretty at the moment. :-) I'm sure when all the bugs are worked out, the menu bars will be all pretty, too. I've always preferred the format at Homesteadblogger, so I'm glad that HSB is following suit.

My husband also works in IT, and I know it is always difficult to make these changes. I just always assume something is going to go "wrong" and take longer than planned, anymore.

I'm glad they are working out all the kinks. I know some bloggers have moved or threatened to move elsewhere. I've been with HSB almost since the beginning and I can't imagine blogging anywhere else!
