Home Where They Belong ~ Children or Cattle?

1:29 AM, Jan. 3, 2007

It's not really a child, it's just a unit. Someone with a number. Can't take them to the bathroom? It's OK - they're not really human anyway; they're just a job. What's modesty? What's humiliation? Perhaps if all of them are desensitized to those things, they won't really matter.

If they're not with you, and you've turned them over to someone you don't know, PLEASE know what you are getting into. Parents are so naive sometimes! Remember public school when you were a kid? I do. My parents had no clue...no clue at all. Don't assume you know everything that's going on, or that you can erase some godless teaching in a godless atmosphere in a few hours in the evenings and on weekends. If your child is gone all day - that is their life. That school with all those teachers and counselors are your child's LIFE. What does God's word say about surrounding yourself with godly counsel, wise teachers? Are you doing that if you put your child into the public school system? Don't fool yourself. Keep them home where they belong.

What type of policy is this? Horrible!

I also wanted to invite you out to the Merry CHRISTmas Carnival of FUNschooling on my blog today. Stop by when you have a chance.

Dec. 15, 2006 - How heartbreaking!!!!!

Please keep us updated (if you can) as to what happens. I'm really curious to see if this teacher is charged with a crime or what happens.

Parents, as much as it depends on you, I say AMEN!...keep them home; and pray for those who have no choice.

I can't believe that children have to be escorted to the bathroom in the first place! I would think it would be better to have a full time bathroom monitor instead... Seriously ridiculous!

You are absolutely right about it being their LIFE.

Thanks for the encouragement...it has been of those weeks. I also have a close friend who has been homeschooling for years (now ages 12, 14 and 16). She is now sending her kids to a private school...because "they'll be okay, they're old enough and good kids." Quite discouraging.

I appreciate your articles and reminders of why it really is best to bring them home and KEEP them home!

Yes, I know, I go to PS myself, it is not a safe place, trust me, I go to a small school too, there's no escaping the problems. I was lucky to meet some of the right people and become a Christian, a real one, but many aren't, many are in a trap, none believe the Darwin theory really, but there are no rules really, no real punishment ( you send the child home, hmm? That's what many want) A child skips school and is punished by being suspended, sent home a few days, oh, yeah, punishment, you gave them what they want, did you not? They hate it at school, not one person I know likes high school (except my sister and my friend, Melissa, who want to be teachers.) I have never liked school, not my Christian preschool or my 13 years od PSing, and I am finishing my 13th year in the system. It's done the damage to me, but it has made me stronger too.

My friend and I were discussing your article, and I think this happens alot. Teachers sometimes refuse to let students go to the bathroom at all, they should have had time in that 10-minute break to go. Even when they feel ill, nope. We know of students who have used soda bottle to relieve themselves ( boys mostly) or just walked out and got yelled out. All because of students leaving room, they may get into trouble or vandalize something ( it happens alot in schools, especially PS's) You all are making the right decision, children should be Home where they belong

Hmmm...I think I'll add this to my list of things I tell homeschool naysayers when they ask me about how I socialize my children. Now I can say, "I used to beat them up in the bathroom and steal their lunch money, but I don't have enough time to escort them there now so I have them pee in a bottle when they have to go."

Yes the teacher was wrong, but can't the school see that they set up the whole absurd situation?
My brother had incontinence problems as a 2nd grader, made worse by his teachers refusal to allow him to use the bathroom except for recesses. this resulted in his embarrassment and shame, but rather than tell anyone he just started wearing black jeans because they showed the wet less.
(they don't even have recesses now)
