Due to technical difficulities, mainly those in my internal date/time calendar, I am late posting who the winner is of the Math Tutor DVD Bundle contest.
No need to panic! I've already done that for you, when I realized my mistake. I probably could use this bundle for myself, paying special attention to knowing the names of the weekdays.
Contestants needed to share their favorite math manipulative or activity. Choclate chips are a great math manipulative in my own home! I read about this other great idea in a book somewhere; buy those colored circle sticker dots used for pricing items at yard sales. Write the answers to all the problems from your child's math worksheet on the dots. (One answer per dot!) Hand the sheet of dots to your child and as they work the problems they then find the answer in the dots and place it on their worksheet to the correct problem. If they come up with an answer that there is not a dot for the answer is wrong or another question's answer is wrong.
Here is a list of the other ideas offered:
Hide and Seek
play cards
cooking
Time4learning.com
Monopoly
Math-IT
dominoes
homemade The Price Is Right
counting bears
grocery shopping
Math-U-See math facts CD
change jar
doing math while "picnicing" around the heater
pattern blocks
math wrap-ups
cash register and playing store
tangrams
Judy Instructo-Clock
Cusinaire rods

The winner, chosen by my Dear Man who picked a number between 1-15, is contestant number 14! (Dear Man's favorite number by the way!) Contestant number 14 is Dawilli! Congratulations!
Ha! I just love this job. Keep your eyes riveted right here on the Company Porch for more exciting contests to come!
