“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.” James 3:17
I have been asking for wisdom in regards to one of my children and their “tone of voice” lately. I was looking for peace in my home. And then a revelation occurred today. That child caught me many times speaking in a not so gentle voice.
I realized that I dislike in my child the same thing I hate in myself. I had to repent for my lack of gentleness and lack of mercy. I was promoting the lack of peace. I saw clearly my hypocrisy. The wisdom from God is peaceable and without hypocrisy.
So, do I not discipline my child for his outbursts? I still do, however I also lovingly share with Him the mercy I have received from my Father as we go to Him together.
Much more progress can be made on our knees than in our own carnal attempts at peace. ~ dlw
