Hi friends!
Did you know if you want to read the latest posts that mention "unschooling" you can just set up a google alert for it? Yup. You can do that with any search term, and then once a day or so you can get a synopsis of all the recent articles and blogs about your term of interest! Amazing!
Sometimes I feel a little deceptive, because although I say that we are unschoolers, it is such a broad term (to me) but has the reputation of such a narrow path that it doesn't always fit what we do and who we are. Our kids are allowed to pursue their interests, within reason. But I see a lot of unschoolers who say "you won't find a textbook in our home!" While we don't have a ton of textbooks, there are one or two good ones around here. And we do attempt to guide our children "in the way they should go." AND we believe that they need to be obedient first---educated later! I know this doesn't fit everyone, and it shouldn't. We are all so unique.
One thing I want to encourage you with right now is that no matter how you choose to home educate your children, it is not always easy. If you read blogs here and find yourself getting discouraged because you don't feel that your life measures up with some of the amazing Moms who blog about their homeschooling.....listen to me; Homeschooling has its good days and bad days! None of us are perfect. Well, we are perfectly who we were meant to be....with all of our flaws intact!
What I mean by that is that we are all a work in progress, and so are our kiddos.
So with that in mind, relax today and enjoy your kids. Find one thing that you can do today that was a success and rejoice in it! Did your child make you laugh or smile? That was a success, so bank on that. Did someone grasp a simple concept? Rejoice in that! Really take the time to listen to your children, really listen to each word they say and watch their little eyes light up. When you can do that, Mom,(without your mind wandering about), then that is success.
Keep seeking the way in which your family should go and enjoy the journey.
Today is the first day of the rest of your unschooling/homeschooling/joyful journey!
