I borrowed the term "avalanche cupboard" from the Rebel family; rumor has it they yell, "AVALANCHE!" whenever someone opens theirs!
Across the country and over the world, cupboards filled with plastic microwaveable storage containers are taking on a life of their own--threatening the dominion of the organized homemaker.
Through the years, I’ve learned a few things that aid in keeping this dangerous phenomenon under control.
I had round containers, square containers, rectangles, and even a few odd triangles! In a bold and desperate act, I donated many of the mismatched containers to goodwill. Starting fresh, I decided to discriminate by shape. Only square containers would be allowed to inhabit my updated and elitist cupboard. I purchased them by the dozen, all at once, knowing that even within the same brand, design and shape evolves through the years and they won’t nest as well if they aren’t all from the same "Rubbermaid Era".
Perhaps, one cupboard at a time, we can reclaim the cupboards of the world!
