The Moeller children have been such a testimony of devotion to their parents during this whole journey. Shannon moved back to Illinois from San Antonio, Texas, to help and be with his parents. His employer stood behind this decision and allowed him to be with his family. Amber, the youngest, surprised her mother with a wonderful gift of a friendship quilt in the fall of 2005. Amber asked friends across the country to quilt squares with a special message of encouragement to her mother. When all of the squares were returned, she enlisted the help of a dear family friend to secretly sew the quilt together. This beautiful quilt will bring tears to your eyes as you read about it at the Moeller’s blog . There are even pictures of her mother opening it. The quilt not only encouraged and blessed her mom, but nurses and staff at the hospital, as well. The Lord provided many opportunities for Mrs. Moeller to proclaim His name during her chemotherapy treatments while wrapped in the warmth of her treasured quilt.

So, not only did Amber lovingly stitch together the gift of this special friendship quilt, but she also organized a fundraiser to help assist her parents with the financial side of this story. In August of 2006, Amber called upon friends and family to share some of their favorite recipes so that she could compile an eCookbook in honor of her mother and to raise money to help cover the medical expenses of this journey.

Finally, on January 4, 2007, Amber’s labor of love was completed . The cookbook contains many yummy recipes that will make your mouth water and your tummy gurgle with anticipation for those tasty treats.   Amber even included a clever little way for us to make note of whether or not a recipe is worthy of our cooking efforts again. Also shared within it are meaningful scripture verses and inspiring quotes in memory of her mother’s battle with cancer, nourishing our hearts and minds as we serve our families in the kitchen. Amber’s creativity is evident from the design of the book. The cover idea actually came to her after a visit to an antique shop. The artwork and layout make the cookbook easy to read.   A "Fun for Kids" section has some neat recipes that are sure to be a hit with children. Finally, the cookbook ends with a wonderful tool — an index. To me a book without an index is like a watch without its hands!

This eCookbook is not your usual cookbook by any means. Home Thyme is a cookbook that tells a story. The story of a faithful and devoted daughter who has been content to remain at home under her parents’ authority, even though she graduated from their homeschool several years ago. It is also a story exemplifying how a daughter loves and honors the Lord and her parents by actively being involved in their lives.

Home Thyme is not just a cookbook; it is a living testimony of the Lord’s faithfulness to the Moeller family. It is a witness that a young maiden in waiting can remain under her father’s roof — contented, happy, productive, and prosperous to boot!
