Organization Creates Freedom! (And if it doesn’t something’s wrong.)
Schedules, plans, and systems aren’t one size fits all. In evaluating any organizational method evaluate whether it would enslave or free you. This isn’t always easily done! Many an unstructured person looks at schedules in terror for years, certain that they would be too constraining, then in desperation gives it a try and finds that the structure is really quite freeing! On the other hand, others find themselves enslaved by the very structures that were intended to liberate.
Organizational helps are like structure in poetry. At one point I resented poetic forms and structure. I balked at the restrictions of a set number of lines, syllables per line, or a prescribed rhyme scheme. In time, however, I realized that it was freeing to work within some boundaries. Structure lends beauty to the overall pattern.
Life is like a poem, balancing structure with variety and surprise. If it is too formulaic it becomes sing-song and monotonous, but without some structure art is lost in chaos.
