Maybe you saw this yourself on Oprah; I will fill you in just in case you didn't. The head hancho from the tv show Clean Sweep was on, and he gave a wonderfully simple tip :
declutter your life
Now, in particular, he was talking about the nasty junk drawer we all have, and fight to close. He suggested you take a box and place every last item from the drawer in said box. For one whole month (no cheating) you only take out of the box the particular item you need at that moment. After using and cleaning the item, it gets to go live back in the drawer. After the month is up, whatever has not been taken out of the box, goes to live in someone else's drawer! You give it away (ok, not to someone who should have done this experiment also), or toss it.
I got to thinking about a lot of "drawers" in my home. I could practice this method in the bathroom, within the bookshelves, in my husband's clothes closets ...
If only it were so simple to declutter my mind.

It's hardest to "clean sweep" your cupboards!

I've pretty much decluttered my drawers and my closets. That's not my problem.
It's my kitchen! All those lentils I bought on a health food craze, the liver I had high hopes we'd eat, all those cans of stuff that has never been eaten, are all jamming up my cupboards and freezer so I can't buy new stuff, but at the same time I don't want to eat it! Yet I can't throw it away either because it cost money!
We've been diligently working at eating through our house for the last two months, and we are making progress. (I'm writing about this on my blog), but it is a challenge. Nevertheless, our grocery bill is miniscule, and that's really nice.
