Hope everyone is finding a little more spring in their steps these days ... I know I am. As thoughts of a freshly cleaned home invade my mind, I am reminded to collocate my cranium as well. So, for today, the tip of the day is:
challenge children with creative conversation
I don't mean simply trying to use proper grammar (though it is softer on the ears of the assiduous), or even using a British accent. What I am referring to is increasing your verbal skills, and expanding your conversational repertoire.
Choose a word and either:
1.use it frequently in regular speech and have your children pick out the "new" word by dinner time
2.have your children use it along with you and see if Dad can guess the "new" word ~ AND meaning!
Come on ... time to dust off the thesaurus and expand your mental capacity. English majors are not the only ones that can use big words. Challenge yourself; it's good for the brain, even if you are not largely loquacious.
