Before announcing the winner in our Spring Fever contest, I want to thank those bloggers who shared their latest science “lesson” with us. Each and every commenter brought their own unique ideas and teaching style to us. In fact, there are plenty of ideas to check out..HERE..
So, Tuesday afternoon, we officially put all the entrants’ names into a (brand new) butterfly habitat (some names were entered twice per the rules).
An innocent bystander was selected from out on our driveway and asked to select the winning name. She vigorously shook the habitat and excitedly selected a name out of the habitat. Unfortunately, she couldn’t read my scratchy writing, but it was clear to me that our winner was/is....

Keri at AHappyHome! Congratulations Keri!
Again, thank you everyone who shared. Please do visit the contest entries for some wonderful ideas. (And if you’re joining in after the contest deadline, please do leave your latest science activity…it’s a great way to share and find new ways to add hands-on learning to our homeschools.)
Last week my husband called me over to the computer to look at something. When he does this it’s usually because he wants to show me a movie trailer or some cool science/technology tidbit.
He excitedly read aloud an article about civilian space travel by the end of 2007. Of course, each ticket will cost over $200,000. “But, it will come down in price during our lifetime”, he assured me.
Richard Branson is partnering with the company that developed Space Ship One to provide commercial spaceflight using the privately funded spacecraft.
So, what is SpaceShipOne?
Check out this free unit from Treasure Box Press which includes a SIMPLE pattern to make your own model. Oh, and find out what hot dogs had to do with the development of Space Ship One.
Thank you for visiting!
See you next week on the Porch,
Michelle
