The Busy Woman ~ Connecting With Others Has To Do With Time Management
10:27 PM, May. 21, 2007
This week was very difficult to find something to write about. It was a draining week with my grandchildren in the office going through different issues. The day before the article was due, I struggled for something to write about. I prayed and was filled with the Spirit to write. But I didn't understand what I was writing about until about 2 pages into it. I said to God, "But God, this isn't an article for my weekly post. Please show me what you have me writing." You see, I get so many interruptions in my office and at home, (I'm sure you can all relate) that too often while I'm on a roll, someone breaks my train of thought. It is so frustrating. So I took a break and asked the Lord to give me quite time when He and I are both ready to write. A little while after I had about 10 or 15 more minutes and the Lord showed me that it was my testimonial I was writing. WOW! What a different way of writing it than I had written before. But I still had a problem. That wasn't something I was to post here. I still needed something for my weekly post. THEN, I got a call from both of my teens at different times... our Asian son was really moving in. Let me take you back to the beginning. Almost 7 years ago, I put my kids back in public school. I homeschooled for 8 years and ran a daycare. We moved to Ventura, CA and I purchased The Busy Woman's Daily Planner®. It was a while after that we put the kids back into public school.
That is where my son met his best friend Binh. Binh is from Vietnam, moved to the US with his family many years ago, only to lose his father to cancer shortly after they arrived. Binh is a very well rounded, kind, and loving person.
My son Josh met Binh in middle school. Because he's the mellow, soft spoken personality type and Binh is the fun loving, sometimes hyper personality type, they got along very well.
They were in a large group of kids who hung out together often. By their senior year of high school, we had moved back to Thousand Oaks again but the group would let me drive out in my big van to pick them up and haul them to our home for the weekend. They were a wonderful and still quite normal group of teens.
At the end of their senior year everyone sort of went their own way but Binh and Josh. They still "hung" out together. When we moved back to Ventura, Binh and Josh started spending more time together, even dating girls that were close friends.
Josh has always wanted a brother and another male around the house since he's been surrounded by two sisters and me while his dad worked long hours. He called me today and told me that Binh was moving in for a little while.
CONNECTIONS!
It's always about connections. If you could see the smile on my son's face when he got home from school you'd know that this was a good connection. He is no longer in a house with mostly women in it and he has someone to take a quick ride to the store with, etc.
You see, from birth, people need to be connected to one another. And these boys had a connection that withstood moving and distance. It also helps that they are both easy going.
How does this pertain to Time Management & organizing you might ask? Our Motto: Making Time For What Matters Most; Family, Friends, FUN! How do you build relationships? Make time for them. If you plan your time (Time Management) and have an organized life (organizing), you will have more time for those things that matter most to you and for me that is people.
PS. Tonight when I got home from work, first Binh came home announcing through the door, "Family I'm home!!!" He's 19. LOL Then my son came home and quietly waved and said hey. LOL About 20 minutes later, both boys were on the couch and Binh was teaching Josh how to solve a Rubiks Cube. Awwww, melt my heart.
