Before you know it the long lazy days of summer will be here. Sunglasses will need to be on the ready. Todays craft is how to create a case for your sunglasses.
What you will need:
Craft foam
Hole punch
Plastic string
Pony beads
(optional paint)
You will need to cut the craft foam down to the size you need. For a pair of child
size glasses I cut mine 6in. by 6in. Then fold the foam in half. Make sure there is a mark or crease in the center when you open the foam. Open the foam flat. Then punch the bottom and side forming an L shape. It is difficult to punch craft foam so punching 1 layer at a time is easiest. Fold the foam in half again and then draw the holes for the other side. Like below
Then punch the other side. Next you want to fold the foam in half and put the string though the bottom corner hole and knot it. Try knotting it twice because the plastic string tends to slip. Begin lacing. Each time you go to lace another hole add a bead or two for decoration.
Once everything is laced then tie off the end and knot it keeping extra if you are making a handle. If you want to make a handle form the loop then knot. For an optional activity you could paint the craft foam with a design. I would use fabric paint on this . Although if made to thick the paint will eventually peel . So you want it painted on thin.
My name is Nikki from 7Valleyshomeschool. I have four children ,
Two daughters ages 14 and 9. Two sons ages 7 and 15 months. I enjoy crafting. I work in our church nursery as a nursery supervisor and am a youth leader. I have also painted backdrops for stage shows. Art for me soothes my soul. :)
Very cool! I'm always looking for fun (and cheap) summer crafts. Thanks for sharing!
