Psalm 41:1 "Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble"
With a few end of summer groups I have had a hard time getting enough school done each day to fulfill my academic expectations. I find myself scrambling a bit each day to write in my teacher book what we have accomplished each day. The entries for last week were somewhat unconventional;
Science-Visited a children's home in Tijuana, fed the orphans lunch and tried to wash our hands really well beforehand because Scott and the men were remodeling a bathroom that was so rotten the tub had fallen through the floor.(Hygiene, Biology, Food Safety)
Math-Calculated how many packages of spaghetti it takes to feed 17 extra people of varying ages.(Multiplication)
Language-Practiced Spanish words such as vamos a orar.(Let's pray)
Social Studies-Discussed why these children were living without parents, the blessing of having a home and family.(Family Life)
It was a busy week and we helped some very needy children get a new shower, while spending good time with our children and those of our guests. It helped us to analyze each experience for its educational value and we had some great conversations with the children about helping the poor while enjoying getting the project done.
