Isaiah 40:31 " But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. "
After three busy weeks of groups we are buckling down to a more consistent school schedule again. I really love doing school with my children; it is so much fun to read about history with them, dictate spelling tests and see the lightbulbs go on as they figure out new math concepts. The best part, and that which really sets the tone for the day is our morning prayer and devotions. It is not always very long, and the content varies, but we always have a better day when we start off in this way. Lately we have been singing a couple hymns, and the children take turns standing up and reciting a Psalm that they have been reading in their private devotional time. This is a good way to help them develop good articulation as well, something a few of my children struggle with. I then share a Bible story, read from the One Year Bible, or share a devotion with them. It is a great way to have time together with the Lord, and gives me a chance to see if the little ones are in need of special attention or attitude adjustments before I get busy with school age children. There are so many gains from this time, both spiritual and educational that we try really hard to make it the first "school" of the day. It is our way of renewing our strength for the day ahead.
