I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I know that our family did. We spent this year at my moms house and then visited my brother who is visiting from a few states away. It was a nice time with family. As a traditon at our home we watch the Macys Thanksgiving day parade Live from New York City. Every year we sit and watch till the end when Santa comes on his sleigh to welcome in the new Holiday season. For us this brings in the Christmas season. The next day we wake up at 4 am and head out in the crowds to finish our shopping. Which by the way I did. Now the next step is to finish our crafting. We do a lot of it. You may want to stop by my blog too because I have a lot of crafts that I will be posting there too.
The other day I had this great idea. With the help of my Lumberjack. We were able to create these cute Christmas puzzle blocks.
Carl cut the wood into 1 1/2 in square cubes. If you decide to make
the blocks larger you just have less blocks .
We cut the Christmas card photo from the orginal fold.
We then layed the cubes together and layed the card picture on top.
Next you glue this card to the top of all your cubes with the wood glue.
Let adhere a bit and cut between the edges of the blocks with an exacto knife.
You may then need to trim the sides a bit with a scissors. Sand the edges.
. Then add decoupage over the tops to give it a shine and to make sure the card will adhere. Do this to all blank sides of the blocks. Now you have a great Stocking stuffer for your kids or a neat gift to give. This also might be something your teen boys might enjoy making.
What a great idea! It occurred to me as I read it, that you could make it more complicated, by adding other puzzles to the same cubes. Turn all the cubes other, and do another card picture, and another, and another, and another. LOL!!
Ooooh, I want to do that! I'm going to see if my husband and son would work on this together!
