When hosting a family gathering recently, I determined that a Water Glass Identification System (WGIS) was required.
For cookouts and casual parties, plastic cups and sharpie markers are the WGIS of choice, but for more formal occasions, I prefer to serve beverages in matching glassware. An alternate WGIS system was needed. As we milled about, one water glass resembled another, and a disproportionate amount of conversation consisted of asking, "Is this my glass or yours?"
A package of multi-colored rubber bands solved the problem; Inexpensive, simple, reusable and functional.

GREAT Tip!
I'm the queen of writing names on cups with Sharpie markers and I have glass charms for stemmed glasses, but I was just commenting on how hard it is with just "regular" glasses. Perfect solution. I'll definitely be buying some big colored rubberbands for the Christmas gatherings.

That is a great idea! It seems that some of the greatest of ideas are always the simple ones.

And for larger groups, you can do a combo of colors: 2 red &1 green; 1 blue, 1 green, & 1 red; etc.

I love this idea. We color code everything around here and used to always have plastic cups, but now that the children use glasses a lot this is a GREAT idea!
