When someone asks me when they should pull their child out of public school I usually say, "Now." I don't see any reason in waiting, there isn't anything to be gained by it. On the other hand there is everything to be gained to bring your children home.
Usually though people like to prepare themselves for such an event. They want curriculum ready or they want to pull their child out during a natural school break. Well Californians, and everyone else for that matter, your chance is coming. Christmas break (or Winter break as the public school likes to call it in keeping with the seasonal theme so as not to offend anyone except the Autumn lovers) is only a few weeks away and after Christmas break California schools will be implementing their new tolerance law. (Funny how tolerance doesn't tolerate the opinions of those that go against the state.)
Many organizations are encouraging Californians to pull their children out of school. Campaign for Children and Families is one such group. While the new law in California does not flat out say that it will be allowing transgender students to enter the locker room of their choice it leaves that option open like a loophole the size of Texas. (Yes, I've read the law and I know how the schools will interpret it as they are always so wont to do.)
So if you won't pull your children out now, pull them out at Christmas break. What else are you waiting for?

I second that motion. totally. Congratulations to Christina-quietcajun, who gets to bring Hannie and Noah home for good after Christmas break.
Homeschooling is tough, but so worth it. It is one of those things that you have to do as you go and you don't find out if you have succeeded until you are through - but we see the effects of the public school system everyday. Homeschooling isn't perfect, but it sure is the best choice.
blessings!
