This is just a friendly reminder to please, back up your hard drives.
Last week, as I was backing up our files to CD Rom, my husband gave me a green light to order an external hard drive! (Merry Christmas to me!) No sooner than we had ordered it than a distraught friend had a hard drive crash. She hadn’t backed things up recently, and will be taking the machine to “the geek squad” in hopes of resuscitation.
The thought of losing years of photographic memories is awful. I’d had the same scare a few years back. I’d lapsed in backing things up, and was going to lose a year or more of digital photographs and data files. Somehow my husband was able to revive the dead drive just long enough for me to transfer the essentials to CD’s, but we knew that when we turned off the machine it would be saying goodbye forever. Our digital photographs survived that computer crash, and it taught me a valuable lesson.
Please, as a Christmas present to yourself, back up your photograph files, and anything else you’d be grieved to lose! Go buy a stack of blank data CDs or an external hard drive.
While you are at it, backing up your blog might be in order too.
Here’s a great link on how to do it efficiently!
