Christmas is in 4 days! How's the hustle & bustle at your house? We haven't decorated the house in several years and I don't do much special baking (due to a makeshift kitchen), so the typical hustle doesn't occur here. The presents have been bought, however, and they've been wrapped. Those needing to be shipped have been. Christmas cards have mostly been mailed. (I still have less than ten that need correct addresses before sending out.)
"In-law Christmas" is this weekend, although my son & I may have to stay home, since he's been sick. I'll know later which way that will go, as he has a doctor's appointment today. I'm so glad that even inadvertently I was "ahead of the game" this year. The end of December has still snuck up on me, but at least things fell into place. Having a sick child (even if he towers over me) in the midst of Christmas preparations can be nerve-wracking. Mike came down with a stomach virus this week (on top of a cough that has lingered from bronchitis acquired the end of September). Thankfully husband and myself have not succumbed. Thursday was better than Wednesday, so I'm hoping today will be better yet, and the weekend, although subdued, will be able to proceed in a fun manner for him.
Remember no matter whether you still have presents to buy, a trip to plan, or family to placate, the real reason for the season is the coming of the Sacrificial Lamb: Jesus who came to take away the sins of the world. We can become so caught up in the activities and duties of the season that we forget where and on Whom the focus should be upon.
May your holiday (Holy Day) be filled with His love and grace and your family be blessed by His presence and peace. Merry Christmas!
