If youre like me you always put on a few extra pounds between Thanksgiving and the New Year. Who can resist the great goodies at those parties and family get-together? I do not try to be a stick-thin model figure but I do try to keep myself healthy and not over-do it this time of year.
ท Eat before you leave you house. If youre headed out to a gathering or party dont show-up hungry or you are more likely to over-indulge. If youre full when you walk in the door you might overlook the extra cookies and opt for the carrot stickyea, right! At least you will not have the extra helping.
ท Stick with friends who stay away from the buffet table. If you chose to do your socializing near the buffet table then you are more likely to graze when you are not hungry. Take a variety of your favorite items and then move away from the line, it will be harder to take an extra piece of cake
ท Fail to Plan
Plan to Fail. This time of year is a time to celebrate and have fun with friends and family but not a time to eat until you feel like the stuffed turkey or goose. Opt for one treat but dont over-do it by choosing every delicacy at each party. Make-up your mind what your treat will be and stick to your plan but do not beat yourself up if you have an extra cookie. Have fun and dont look back on mistakes.
ท Take a walk. Walking is so easy; almost anyone can do it
.anywhere! Take time to exercise and stick to a routine, youll feel better because exercise releases happy hormones in your brain AND you will be glad you took time for yourself during this busy time!
Remember, that the Holidays are a time to have fun but you do not want to pay for that fun for months after the parties are over. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
