If you used the HSB rocking chair default avatar, you have no doubt discovered that rocking chair has been replaced by a. . .ah. . .what is that little green thing anyway?

A lizard? Perhaps a newt? Nah, that's Splish! Remember our happy little frog from the TOS Summer Reading Splash program? Well, now he's the main character in a new book about to be realeased! We're very excited about, "And Then Mama Said. . .It Takes Time to Learn to Read," because it's a truly wonderful story written by Gena Suarez and illustrated by Kevin Scott Collier! As soon as the book is available we'll let you know, but we thought we'd help spread the word and get you wondering just what this little frog is all about.
Remember, Splish is just the default avatar. You have the option of changing him to something different if you like. We love this little frog and we felt like rearranging the furniture; so off with the rocking chair and on with Splish! If you don't care to have froggie furnishings, you can most definitely put him aside and replace him with something more to your taste. Maybe to a statuette of a cow in rain gear?

I was tempted to do an "anonymous" comment ranting and raving about changes here at HSB... But since I'm a horrid liar and have my own avatar, I thought I'd leave well enough alone!
I can't wait to see Gena's new book!
3 cheers for Splish!
That little guy and I have become quite close over the past several months. I've enjoyed working with him on the Summer Reading Program. In addition to the new book, Splish and I are getting ready to give LOTS of books away during National Young Readers Week in November. Be sure to visit Splish's blog at http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/SummerReadingSplash!

Oh, good. I saw my dd had a mysterious new avatar that I didn't remember. But I thought I'd come over here and look around and there he was. I told her he was the logo frog for the summer reading program. When the announcement about Gena's new book comes out...I'll try get it posted on the WA State HSNs Blog.
