Support can be found on the web when you are Homeschooling Only One student. I created my website (donnac.com) to provide a clearinghouse of information, with several pages dedicated to support links.
I have to begin by encouraging you to check out HOOville. This is the message board I created and maintain for HOOers. We just changed locations and are in a new format. Growing weekly, we're up to 45 members now. It's a great place to gain insights, get support, find humor and camaraderie! Be sure to check us out!
There are a lot of email lists that are geared just for those who Homeschool Only One. I have one page for general HOO-type email lists and another just for grandparents who are HOO'ing. I do suggest that if you're a HOO'ing grandparent you not only join a grandparent support list but at least one of the other lists.
Other HOO sites can be found online: blogs, other message boards, and articles. I have a page where I've listed the ones I have found. I'm always on the look-out for more links, so if you find anything pertaining to HOO'ing, please send it to me!
I also have a page that is helpful to all homeschoolers, no matter the number of their children. My Homeschooling Methods & Links page has descriptions of all the different methods to homeschooling with links to programs and materials that allign themselves well with each method. It also has a fairly comprehensive list of catalogs, homeschooling companies, books, and other resources.
My website also has a page on how to order the book I wrote. Homeschooling Only One is a resource also, since I have not found another book solely written for those who HOO.
The Web is definitely a great place to find support. Hope you'll join me and the others at HOOville at the very least!
