Featured Blogger

Father, Principal, Husband and Seeker

I am excited to feature a homeschooling father as Blogger of the Week.   He is a new blogger to HomeschoolBlogger.com.  But he's off to a great start.  His avatar is a pizza.   He explains the reason this way,

So, why is my avatar a pizza? Just like me, it's a sometimes too saucy, a sometimes too cheesy and always somewhat crusty around the edges.

He often uses humor to help explain simple truths.  And as you finish reading your always left thinking about the topic just a little differently.   Let's take a look at a sample of some of this thoughts on a variety of topics. (Click on the title to read the whole post.)

Why He Started A Blog

"The blogging bug has been rattling around in my head for a few weeks... ever since it has captured the attention of my wife.  I figure that if she is going to read blogs... heck, mine can be one of them."

Blogging about his wife

"To begin with, I want to be crystal clear and not leave any room for question about one point.  I love my wife.  I respect my wife.  I respect her abilities as a teacher, wife, mother and homemaker.  If, in any of my past blogs, I have in any way implied anything negative about her or her abilities, that was purely unintentional and not representative of how I feel."

"I am not, and never want to be, one of those bloggers who is out to slam their wife and vent their frustrations to the world when I am too cowardly to vent them directly to her.  And if there is something I am frustrated about, it isn't likely to intentionally show up here."

Boys

“WHOOP!”, “AAAARGH!”, “PTTTHHHH”. What is that? Just some of the noises that just randomly seem to burst from my 7 year olds lips at the oddest times... Strolling through the kitchen on some mission and “YA!” pops out and he continues on as if nothing happened. I'm leaving his room at bedtime tonight after a nice calm tuck-in and prayers... the door is closing ....“RAAAAHH!”... and then all is quiet.

What is this? Some sort of early onset Tourette's syndrome? Acting out and showing he can control a situation? Noise just for the sake of noise?

No.. .I know what you are going to say... “Boys will be boys”.

The Real Reason He Homeschools

(Here is the first but do read them all.)

"Reason #1 I can keep my children uneducated!

Not all children are created equal.  Some can read at 4, others aren’t ready until 7 or 8 or even 9.  Some children are ready to handle abstract math concepts at 10 and others aren’t ready until they are 16 or older.  In school they are either forced to slow down to the pre-prescribed pace set by the educational system or they are forced to struggle to keep up and either sink or swim.

This father proves that there is no shortage of material for a homeschooling dad to blog about.    Please click on over and welcome a new day to the HomeschoolBlogger.com

Random Blogger: Seek Ye First

The Featured Blogger and Random Blogger winners will each receive the following:

The Five Finger Paragraph books for HomeSchooled students are designed for initial introduction to the Five Finger Paragraphฉ Methods for Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade students.  The method is also quite effective when used as subsequent or remedial instruction material for students who function at grade level or below.  The materials introduce paragraphs and give explicit instructions for two methods of writing essays.  Also quite effective in helping students prepare for the SAT/ACT exams. Illustrations on almost every page.  Parents' editions (8 1/2 x 11) contain the student edition on every page, as well as instructional aids and helpful hints.  Student editions are 5 x 8.  Both editions are coil-bound.

Hat tip to Julie Nott for suggesting this person as featured blogger.

Featured blogger is chosen by Karen Braun of Spunky Homeschool and Sponsor of the week is selected by Kris Price of Classical Education 4 Me.
