Easter is next Sunday and many of us will be celebrating the resurrection of Christ. It is so awesome what Jesus did for us, and I don't mean, "like, cool man." I truly mean that I am filled with awe and wonder.
I don't have any wonderful stories from my past about Easter. How one Easter our family did some neat-o project, or offered our thoughts as we sat down to a family Easter dinner, and it was just so touching and all of that. That oh so memory making moment never happened for us on Easter day itself. However, that doesn't mean that we have never cried or had our hearts filled to the brim by the incredible gift that Christ gave to us.
It was the late night that I sat on the bathroom floor trying to finish reading a really good book. When one line in the story explained to me why Jesus had to die for us. At that moment I felt like blinders were pulled from my eyes, my heart swelled with joy, and the awe was so overwhelming I can still feel it today. That was 14 years ago.
It was the day my little girl came and asked me, with her eyes full of fear and sorrow, if she could have Jesus in her heart. She realized that she was a sinner and needed Him.
It was the night that my special-needs son got out of bed, a very rare occurance for him, and he came into the living room, sat down beside me on the couch, and said, "I want Jesud to wiv in my hart."
It's every single time someone I love accepts Him. That's when I am once again struck by the beauty of the gift. How perfect it was. Why it's the only way we can be saved from our sins.
Great job parents. To surround your children with the Word and allow them to come to Christ when they are ready. I have had two of those wonderful moments in my house and I tear up thinking of it.
Don't think me a copycat but I was going to write about this topic this week as well.
God bless
