With this being a holiday weekend, I wanted to find some interesting trivia on Memorial Day. Upon researching, I learned how little I really know about the holiday. Let's see what you know! There are three age categories of questions today. There are also some bonus questions at the end! Be sure to email the answers to me at thogate@thehomeschoolmagazine.com.
Correct answers will be entered into our drawings at the end of the month. We will be giving away two gift certificates to the Schoolhouse Store.

Okay, here are your questions:
- Elementary (Grades 1-5) What town is the official birthplace of Memorial Day? (Several towns claim this but only one is considered the official town per the US Government)
- Middle Grades (Grades 6-8) What was the original name for Memorial Day?
- High school and adults: Compare how Memorial Day was originally celebrated to how it is observed now. What are some differences? What are some similarities?
- BONUS QUESTIONS: ALL AGES...
Who said these phrases?
"Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people."
"Neglect mending a small fault will soon be a great one."
"Most people are about as happy as they make their minds to be."
Alrighty, email me your answers. Also on the email, I will need your name, age, state you live in, and email address. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
To enter you must live in the US. Click here for full contest rules.
Blessings and remember to honor a vetaran this weekend!
