This week's Front Porch theme is Vacation! When I think of organization and vacation I think of Ziplock bags.
How did people pack before these handy zippy bags? The fact that they can vacuum seal conserves space, their transparency facilitates quick identification of contents, and they scrunch to fit whatever space is available.
For babies, I love putting each day's outfit in a gallon sized bag. It keeps things matched up neatly and makes it easy for dad to help dress the little ones without having to worry about what things belong together.
For older children (and grown-ups) a bag confines socks and underwear.
They keep shoes in pairs and prevent soles of shoes from rubbing up against clean clothing.
They keep things tidy in the ice chest--a bag for grapes, another for muffins, and another for plastic spoons for the applesauce.
Ziplocks are a good safety measure for lotions, shampoo and other toiletries that might leak in transit due to altitude changes.
I always pack a few empty ones in various sizes--it seems they come in handy on a daily basis.
Finally ziplocks are a great way to store my chocolate chip/almond mix (also known as MommyFood) secure for emergency snacking.
Tame vacation chaos with zippy bags!
