Two Wonderful Ministries at HSB
7:51 PM, Jul. 17, 2005
Please stop in and see two of our newest bloggers from ministries you know well. Answers in Genesis is our favorite creation ministry. They brought us (Paul and Gena) out a year and a half ago to see the beginnings of their new creation museum. This will be THE place to have a homeschool field trip. We had such a wonderful time with Ken Ham, Mark Looy (and his very sweet wife, Renee), Mike Zovath and several of their staff; they are truly down to earth people who love the Lord. God has blessed their ministry, and an enormous creation museum is set to open (at this time's eta) in 2007. We can't recommend their resources to homeschool families enough.
See Ken Ham's ongoing blog here. You might link to it so you can keep up on what AiG is doing regularly. You'll also be updated on AiG events and hopefully specials for homeschoolers. ;-)
The second ministry that joined our blogger community this week is Focus On The Family. James Dobson has appeared in our magazine in the past when we interviewed Dr. Raymond Moore. That was a GREAT issue. In addition, staff from Focus have written for TOS from time to time in the past. We went out to see them (our marketing managers) last week in Colorado Springs and had a super time with their marketing directors. A great bunch, over there! And at that meeting, one of the managers spoke of AiG very favorably. It's neat to be able to get together with people like this. God uses it for His glory.
Focus has invited TOS Magazine out (and gave us a free booth as their only homeschool vendor) to their DARE 2 DIG DEEPER conference in Colorado Springs next month. Paul is going to take our two oldest boys and attend it with them, while another staff member will handle the booth. If you can get out there (late Aug), do try. Perfect for dads to take their teens to. Here's some of what they'll cover:
TOPICS COVERED AT DARE 2 AUGUST 26-27 Josh McDowell, Erwin Lutzer, Lee Strobel, and other respected apologists, will teach on: How to share your faith confidently in any situation Proof that the Bible is trustworthy Historical confirmation of Christ's resurrection Ancient evidence for the life of Christ Absolute truth, and why it matters Creation vs. evolution Overcoming doubts How to reach skeptics Responding to Islam How to effectively respond to atheism, agnosticism False assertions of the "Davinci Code " Moral decay, homosexuality, gay marriage Understanding the Christian world view, and responding to belief systems that oppose Christianity Moral purity, sexual abstinence for teens Ethical issues, stem cell research, and the sanctity of human life Don't Miss This Year's Premiere Apologetics Event
Scientology, Islam, Wicca, Relativism, The Davinci Code, Homosexuality, the Occult... Countless beliefs are now competing for the hearts and minds of teens. At Focus On The Family's Dare 2 Dig Deeper conference August 26 - 27, world-class leaders like Josh McDowell, Lee Strobel, Erwin Lutzer, David Noebel, and others will equip teens and parents to spiritually thrive, and to know the reasons "why we believe, what we believe."
Held at Focus on the Family, the cost for this two-day event is only $35 per person for early registration, and with limited space, it's filling up fast.

A NOTE FROM ALEX McFARLAND:
Dear Christian Leader,
As countless belief systems compete for the hearts and minds of people, it is vitally important that Christian teens (and adults) be equipped to understand and defend their faith. At the "Dare 2 Dig Deeper" conference in Colorado Springs, August 26-27, teens, parents, youth leaders, and Christian workers will learn apologetics and the Christian world view from some of the most respected scholars of our time.
Think about it - Relativism. Islam. Homosexuality. Wicca. The Occult. The Davinci Code. Scientology. Hinduism. Buddhism. Cults... what do all of these have in common? These terms represent non-Biblical points of view that are very influential in our world today. Into this pluralistic world God sends His church to present, explain, and defend the message of His Son, Jesus Christ.
The Teen Apologetics Ministry at Focus On The Family is passionate about "reaching and teaching" - making sure that believers are equipped to know the reasons "why we believe, what we believe." Individuals from all over Colorado (and beyond) are coming to Focus On The Family this August, to experience the "Dare 2 Dig Deeper" apologetics event. SPACE IS LIMITED! Don't miss this life-changing event!
I ask that you pray, promote, and plan to attend!
So that all may know HIM,
Alex McFarland / Focus On The Family
Teen Apologetics Director 719-268-4873 Anyway, if you can make it, come see TOS at our booth! We'll give you a free magazine issue.
