Wednesday Whimsey - Most embarrassing moments

12:52 AM, Feb. 22, 2006

Did you hear the story in the news last month about the dad who got stuck in a washing machine while playing hide-and-seek with his kids?

That had to be embarrassing.  We've all had our moments like that though.

Want to share your funny story?  You can tell us.  You're among friends here.  You can even post anonymously if you want to. Just keep it family friendly. ;)

The first five to comment will receive the "Featured on the Front Porch" button. To make it quicker for us to award you your button, we'd like to ask you to include your email in your comment in this format (so that it will not easily be grabbed up by those email-seeking programs) - yourname-at-yourserver.com ... or you can email me letting me know you commented (my email is below: just replace the -at- with the @ symbol!)

Well, a couple of years ago my dfil came and livd with us after he got out of jail Whenever anyone would ask him where he had been he would say up north( we lived in south Louisianam and he had been in jail in North Louisiana). One day when a pretty lady asked him he said up north and my then 3 year old son said "No you were not you were in JAIL"

Nearing DD's 8th Birthday -

1:57 PM, Feb. 22, 2006, posted by
we drove out to visit my Mom. She decided since we were there, and DD's birthday was coming up, we'd go shopping for her present together. The banks were closed, so she had me drive her to a market, of the same name she cashed her check at before near her job - only to find out the one near her house didn't have a 'contract' with that company. It's individually done, you see.
Not to be deterred, Mom decides to just write a check, and deposit her pay in the am. Off to the store we go.
At the check out the cashier asks "Will this be cash, check, or charge" Mom says, "I'll be writing a check today."
DD pipes in "Checks are what you use when you don't have money, right Grandma!"

I used to work as a receptionist for an optometrist. Tho I'm a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal, I had to wear dresses or slacks to work. Usually when I got home, I was in a hurry to get out of my work clothes and into my comfy jeans.

One day at work, I was leading patients back to the examination rooms, and noticed some shadows on the floor. Looking down, I didn't see anything, and continued on to set the patient up.

All morning, as I walked up and down the hall, back and forth from the office to the exam room, seating patients and doing paperwork, I kept noticing shadows flickering around on the floor...like little mice running in and out and around my feet. But whenever I looked down to try to see them, they were gone. I set up an eye appointment for myself.

Toward the end of the day, there was a slow time and I started on the bookkeeping that I had put off all day. I sat down in my rolling office chair, and rolled backward to get some files. But my chair wouldn't move. I pushed forward. I pushed backward. But my chair seemed to be glued to the floor.

I stood up so I could take a look at what might be going on with the wheels, but as I stepped away from the chair, the chair followed me. I tried to turn around, but the chair followed my backside around.

I finally just sat back down on the seat, and leaned over, my head down between my knees, peering underneath the chair to try to find the problem.

Oh my word! It seems my pantyhose had somehow come off my feet and twined themselves up in the wheels of the office chair. I was flabbergasted. How can pantyhose come off of feet?

I slowly untwisted them, then walked to the bathroom to find out how this had happened. On the way to the bathroom, I noticed the little shadows again. Looking down as I walked, I saw two panty hose legs coming out of the bottom of my slacks, flapping along with each step.

After I examined the situation, I realized that when I had slipped off these particular slacks after work, I had slipped the pantyhose off with them, and forgetting to take the hose out, had hung up the whole. A few days later, when I put the slacks on, I'd never noticed there was more than just a pair of pants there.

Not one single patient had mentioned those stockings, tho I'm sure quite a few had a good laugh at my expense. Or maybe no one noticed because they all needed glasses. That's my hope at least.

We had gone to an old fashioned drive up restaurant where they have car hops. Boy 1 needed to use the restroom, so we got out of the car went into the very crowded restaurant and into the bathroom. While we were there I decided to make use of the facilities myself.

As we were working our way through the crowd, a man asked, "What's 2x3?" to who I don't know, but Boy 1, only 5 at the time answered, "2 x 3? That's easy, it's six!" The crowd burst out laughing and I proudly said, "and he's only 5!" We left the restaurant and made it back to the car, where I discovered the back of my skirt tucked into my underwear!

I have no idea if the crowd had laughed at my son's comment, or my skirt problem, my only hope is that it was so crowded noone could see anything below the neckline anyway. Still, I had stepped outside to get to the car....ugh!

If I am the fifth commenter I would like to get the Company Couch button as I lost mine during a template malfunction. sagerats-at-starband-dot-net

Every year I attend the HS bookfair in Arlington,Tx with my sil and also with Good- Friend. This is something the 3 of us love to do, and we always go together.
Last year we deviated from normal routine and instead of catching fast food for dinner, we decided we'd stop at Denny's to eat.
We had a lovely dinner and could have stayed there for hours chatting it up about what fun the bookfair was,but since we still had some distance to drive home. We cut out pretty quick...but not before one last potty break.
I gave them the check and the money and went to the ladies room.
While I was there, it hit me,... I was going to be in here for longer than expected.

So there I sat, hoping they weren't getting impatient waiting in the car for me.
Finally, business is all taken care of, and I am standing at the sink washing my hands, turn off the water, turning (i'm looking for paper towel or blow dryer) my eyes stop on the piece of porceline to my left hanging on the wall! There was a pair! AAAAaaaaccccCCKKK!
SIRENS ARE GOING OFF IN MY HEAD!!!!!

OH my GOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSHHHHH! I have to get out of here! What if a man comes in here? (why wouldn't a man come in here? after-all it is the men's room) Why don't they put two doors for these places?
OK..calm down! Just go out. Maybe NO-one will notice.
I open the door and I NOTICE.... there it is... the UNIVERSAL sign for MEN'S ROOM, right there on the wall, facing out toward the diner, for all to see, and there I am ,a woman, coming out like it's no big deal.
Now that was pretty embarrassing, right?
Well, just to let you know, unbeknownst to me this is what was going on while I was in the Men's room...
Good- friend decides she'll make a trip to the ladies as well. She goes in does her thing, notices I'm not in there and thinks SHE'S IN THE MEN'S ROOM and comes out...immediately she tell SIL ... "She's (I'm) not in the ladies room" ,"What happened to her?" "Do you think she's been accosted?"
" Should we get the manager?"
Never mind that... the manager comes over and asks "Can I help you?"
Thank goodness they didn't send him in there! I would have been Mortified.
Oh wait...I WAS MORTIFIED.
Did I tell you that when I came out of that MEN'S ROOM into the Diner, it was FULL, PACKED WITH PEOPLE!?
It didn't help matters that as soon as I appeared from out that door, I'm sure my face SHONE WITH EMBARRASSMENT... but SIL ,runs from the cashier Laughing histerically into the parkinglot ...where Good- Friend is on the cell phone w/ her dh telling him I'm missing!

To this day we laugh about it... and jokingly talk about the time I went out of my way to make Good-friend think she was in the men's room. he he he!

Now what do I do?

2:45 AM, Feb. 25, 2006, posted by
I have never admitted this story to anyone, so here goes...
This happened whenI was working. Our offices were in two buildings, both glass front, one story. There were labs and office cubbies right at the front of the buildings. I was wearing a skirt with a half slip. Well, I was walking from one building to the other...I thought I felt something funny with my skirt, but I just kept walking..I crossed between the 2 buildings, got in front of the second building and my slip slipped all the way down and landed at my ankles...right there in front of the glass. I mean how do you just stoop over and pick up your slip...do you step out of it, do you pull it back up...do you scoop it up with a toe and catch it. ...do you fling it into the bushes. I had lots of options at that point. Well, I picked it up and walked around the building and back into the first building. I couldn't face anyone in there. No one ever mentioned it.

True Story

8:43 PM, Feb. 25, 2006, posted by berrymorin
My husband, son and I were at Sea World. While looking at a display we had gotten separated. It was pretty dark in there but I figured I had spotted my husband. I walked up behind him, put my arms around him and said 'Heh baby'. The guy turned around and said "I'm not your baby." I was so upset. My husband just laughed and said sorry and that he was taking me home before I left with someone else.
