Using the Forum
Some of you may not be aware of the Users Forum that we have set up for your use. There is a link on the front page of the HSB site or you can go directly to www.homeschoolblogger.com/forum.
There have been some changes made to the registration process for the forum, so if you have not yet signed up there, you will need this information. The registration at the forum is separate from the blog registration - just having a blog will not allow you to post in the forum. Anyone can read, but only registered users of the forum can post messages or reply to messages.
The main change is that we are manually approving new members. In the past, the forum has been a magnet for spammers and people wanting to post highly inappropriate photos, links and information. These people do not have blogs here, they just target message boards such as ours. It has gotten to the point that we have to 'close the border', so to speak, in order to prevent this activity from happening on an ongoing basis.
Because the registrations have to be checked, verified and approved before you can post, it will not be 'instant' access. As always, you can read the entries in the forum, but you can't post anything until your registration is completed. To facilitate this new approval process, we are asking that you register with the same username that you use for your blog. This way, we can easily verify that you are indeed a blog site member and approve you accordingly. For your own ease of use, you can also use the same password that you have for your blog, if you like.
In short, if you want to register for the user forum, make sure you use your blog username and understand that it may take a day or two before your registration is complete and you can post there.
The forum is a great resource for information on template additions and modifications and other helpful blogging information. There are a lot of questions that are beyond the scope of tech support but the answers can be found in the forum. The forum is the place for users to help other users. Just keep in mind that most posts that are there now give instructions for the old blog system, so the exact locations of some of the items may be moved a bit with our new format. You should be able to track them down fairly easily, though. And if you can't - just ask in the forum! :-)
