TOS Magazine almost 50% Off !!!!

Greetings!

Fall 2008Did you ever dream of getting a horse for Christmas? You can get a sneak peek of our Fall issue  and see Nancy Carter's first horse! Oh, and she's not the only one sharing her childhood pictures. You'll see photos from the 50's through the 80's.
But you'll need the Fall issue to go on this walk down memory lane with us.

Keep reading though. We're going to tell you about a brand new TOS holiday E-Book. It's all about the fall and winter holidays - mainly Thanksgiving and Christmas. But it's not even for sale yet. This is your chance to get it first  - for FREE ($12.45 value)!

Normally when a person subscribes, their subscription starts with the upcoming issue which can take a while. But see, we thought about that when we planned this Fall Special.

We know that once you subscribe to a magazine, you're ready to get that first issue.

That's why if you subscribe now with our Fall Special, you'll not ONLY be saving almost 50% off the cover price, but we'll also send you the current Fall issue as soon as it is ready.

And I don't know if we're going to get to make this offer again. Fulfillment is telling me that it's kind of expensive to mail out these magazines individually. (I suppose that's why other magazines don't do it!) Fall 2008

But for now, you can still get in on this deal.

We said that we'd offer it for 3000 customers and that's what we're doing. About 1200 of you can STILL get:
  • 2 years of the magazine
  • the current issue
  • 6 physical gifts worth $127.34

    AND
  • something extra!

We're out of the Homeschooling with Heart tote bags for new subscribers, but we came up with something else that we think you're REALLY going to like,
especially with the holidays coming up soon!

Homespun Holidays: Fall & Winter

Our staff has come together to share our time-tested favorite family traditions and recipes with you. And for the next two weeks, the ONLY way to get it is with our Fall Special!

  • Are you already thinking about how to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas without spending a fortune?
  • Are you looking for ways to make the holidays more special for your family?
  • Need ideas for meaningful, fun things to do with the kids?
  • Do you want frugal gift ideas that your kids will have fun making and your loved ones will appreciate?
  • Do you enjoy trying new recipes?

With over 80 pages of delectable recipes, frugal crafts, simple decorating ideas, and fun family activities, Homespun Holidays is an E-Book that you'll enjoy reading, and will refer to time and time again.

"This book satisfied the planner, the cook, the craft lover, the decorator, the sentimentalist, the teacher, the poet and the lover of Jesus in me. Not only do I want to own this book, I want to gift it out to everyone who loves these things as much as I do." -Elizabeth Brandt

"This book is filled with recipes, crafts, and how-to instructions. But, it's oh so much more than that! It gives such a personal feel to it. It feels as if you're talking with a friend." -Laurie Bostwick

This E-Book will be be listed in our Schoolhouse Store for $12.45 on November 1st, but why wait when you can get it for free NOW? For less than $27 more, you can get not one, but TWO years of TOS, plus the current issue, and 6 fabulous physical gifts worth over $127. You'll also get the Homespun Holidays E-Book as a bonus!

Don't miss out on our Fall Special. We just sold through 300 subscriptions in 3 days and we don't want you to miss out on this last 1200.

Invest in a subscription that's going to help you be the best wife, mother, and homeschool teacher that you can be.

Not only will you get our quarterly magazine, but you'll also be getting the monthly teaching tips and free download in Teacher's Toolbox.

Plus, the physical gifts!
  • 2 project packs from In the Hands of a Child

Trust me, you're in for a treat with this E-Book. It's straight from our hearts to yours and we're thrilled to give new subscribers a chance to download it before we even release it for sale in the Schoolhouse Store. If you've been trying to think of ways to make Fall and Winter a truly special time for your family, you do NOT want to let this offer pass by.

"A little this, a little that, wrapped up in eighty-some pages and tied up with a bright bow... Homespun Holidays, Fall and Winter is lavishly illustrated with colorful photos,  ... you'll find ideas for crafts, homemade gifts, foods, hospitality ...even a few seasonal poems. From the HSLDA E-lert Service

September 25, 2008

Act Now to Stop Costly Federal Early Education Spending Bill

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends,

Action is needed now to stop a harmful early education bill, H.R. 2343, the Education Begins at Home Act. Despite the bill’s seemingly homeschool-friendly title, the legislation is actually yet another “big government” encroachment into the sphere of education.

H.R. 2343 seeks to expand the Head Start Early Home Visitation program to supposedly “educate” parents of children from infants to 5-year-olds on parenting strategies. If passed, this bill would literally open the door for government employees to enter private homes to impose unelected officials’ educational agendas, which may prove offensive and contrary to many families’ moral and religious beliefs. Although at this point enrollment in the home visitation program is voluntary, government programs almost always grow beyond their original scope when bills are amended.

This intrusive and unnecessary legislation comes at a whopping starting cost of more than $190 million—a burden that will be incurred by already struggling American taxpayers.

Action Requested

Please call your U.S. representative today and urge him or her to oppose H.R. 2343, the Education Begins at Home Act. It is not necessary to identify yourself as a homeschooler. You can say something as simple as the following:

“I am a constituent and I strongly oppose H.R. 2343. The government should not be involved in funding questionable early education programs, especially at a time of financial uncertainty when our hard-earned tax dollars could be better spent elsewhere.”

You can reach your U.S. representative by calling the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121, or by using our Legislative Toolbox.

This bill has been placed on the House calendar and could come up for a vote anytime this week, or even during the weekend as Congress rushes to finish legislative priorities before they adjourn.

Background

For more information on H.R. 2343 and the dangers of early education, please visit our online bill page.

Sincerely,

J. Michael Smith
HSLDA President
