Busy Day

On the agenda for this day was to find the paperwork for a horse run-in that is supposed to be delivered soon.  We had ordered this run-in last autumn for one of the pastures.  But then one snow storm after another hit, and we never could get the perfect timing for it to be delivered (coming from Shipshewana, several hours away).  Now, I want it to be delivered, but I can’t find the paperwork that I need.  Another loose link of mine – I’m terribly disorganized with any and all paperwork.  So, this is another 2008 goal of mine to greatly improve in.  If I live to be 99, I should have all my weaknesses, faults, and shortcomings all worked out.

The good thing is that I organized a lot of piles of paperwork looking for this item.  That’s a job I’ve been meaning to get to, but never make the time for.  But the bad thing is that it took almost the whole morning, and I still haven’t found my missing paperwork.

I got a phone call.  “Can you come to the office ASAP?”  Were in the midst of the finishing touches on the commercial building our family company is constructing, and there were decisions to be made.  This was not on my agenda for this day, but, “O.k., I’ll be there,” was my reply.

This took all afternoon. When I was finally done, I was tired and hungry, but needed to run to pick up the birthday presents and the last minute food items for the family birthday party tonight.

When I got home, a few minutes late, I got the burgers ready to be grilled, and worked fast to get it all together for our celebration.  While we were all sitting at the table, eating dinner,  unwrapping gifts, and blowing out candles (two birthdays: dh and son-in-law), Ruthie announces with that  I-Just-Remembered look, “Oh, I forgot to tell you.  Jennifer called a long time ago and she is waiting to be picked up at the airport.”  That ended the party rather abruptly with a trip to pick her up at 9:30 p.m.

Maybe tomorrow will run more smoothly…..

I am still planning to call you...when I can find a (small) block of time! LOL Hope your week takes a turn for the BEST and your paperwork appears.

I hate to ask how far away the airport might be? The main airport is a good hour from us here. Poor Jennifer. It was one of 'those' kind of days. My Friday was like that.

Joy and I just got back from a 4H "Fun Raiser Show". This is not a qualifying 4H show so adults can show in it so I did. She and I shared Ima.

I was thinking about you Friday as Joy had a lesson and I was riding her smaller pony. Some times I take the lesson with her but since Friday was one of 'those' days we were late and I didn't bother. Just getting Joy in the arena was an accomplishment that day! Today Joy got all blue ribbons. Which is very good as it's her first time showing Ima. I'd shown her a tad before. Ima has been shown a lot and Joy and I think she KNOWS when to pour on the performance and she slacks when we are practicing. Funny!

Ima and I earned 2 blues and a red. That goes to show that the rider can make the horse look better because Joy earned a blue in the same type of class for her age division with more competition than I did in the same class with adults. We had a great time. AND the weather is GREAT....this is a miracle for here. So hot us mossy, wet folks are having to adjust to what feels 'tropical' to us.

Yes, we are having a home built. ALL we have so far is an excavated hole ground. I took photos of that yesterday. We had to wait a good 40 days or so for the wildlife buffer from our county. Then we could start on the house.

We picked colors for things the other day. My dh saw they had changed the front of the house style and we liked the new look so we plunked down more to get the different gable and more of a front covered porch. I love front covered porches. I would guess you do too! So this is a good change but more $ and a bit more time. It should not require a bigger excavation or anything.

Our building superintendent will be out for a site visit with us and then we can get cement poured. Woo hoo! We just had the siding replaced and this house repainted with very nice new trendy colors with the garage peaks a different color. The Christian man that won the siding/paint bid really made sure we got a great paint job too. Her personally inspected it.

The neighbor, our realtor and our family really like it. I might consider similar colors for our next house. We have a few more little 'fix its' to do here to get this house on the market.

Nate will be done with baseball soon. That's been a busy schedule to keep up with at the local high school.

So you lost a receipt or purchase order for a run-in.I'm not sure what a 'run-in' is. I lost my mare's registration papers so have to back track and get a notary. The last owner did legally buy her but never transferred the reg. At least the owners live sort of in this area. I really like having less paper to deal with.

I like your family photo with the horses as your blog header. Beautiful.

God bless your week,
Marie

About Me

Welcome to our ranch! Come, sit on our porch, have some tea, and stay a while. Were going to have a lot of fun chatting. Bring the kids, too, as we've got lots of room to play, horses to ride, cats and kitties to cuddle, gentle dogs to pet, and baby chickens to look at and hold. We can take trail rides around the alfalfa field, wade through the creek, take a paddle boat to the island on the lake, go fishing, or explore the Black Walnut Forest. There's no hurry around here. We'll just meander about and maybe even pack a picnic basket - Ranch Shekinah is abounding with Mulberry trees, wild blackberries and raspberries, an orchard of apple trees, and a herb garden.
