Yes, she's sound asleep, and I bet it's not visions of sugarplums dancing in her head!
Eight years ago I, like smlltwnmmmy, was 28 years-old and expecting a baby girl in April. Since my sweet daughter’s arrival (ten days late!) we’ve been constantly blessed by her uniqueness! She is quite a leader to be the third child. She is meticulous in her ballet dancing, music and any handcrafts she attempts. Since she’s such a perfectionist, her messiness amazes me. For her tiny stature, she has a very big heart!
She has too many interests to count, but her latest fascination is with DOGS! It began one frosty winter morning three months ago when we were off to a great start in our homeschool day. We heard a whining outside and discovered a tiny lonesome pup wandering around our secluded farm. It was near to impossible for that little guy to have found his way to our house by himself. Poor thing was so ugly he was almost cute. Accompanied by the little dog lover herself, I spent the morning driving down the surrounding country roads looking for the rest of the litter or a frantic mama dog. We found neither so the next day, after a sleepless night of howling from the front porch, he accompanied my husband to work and found a permanent home with a very happy co-worker! Later we discovered a large litter of familiar-looking puppies bouncing round our neighbor’s pig farm. Wonder why he didn’t return my call when I inquired as to whether our stray belonged to him??
She fell in love with that dog (if she could see it now I bet she’d be glad we didn’t keep it!) and has since become “dog-gone crazy!” She’s always had an interest in medical issues, even insisting at the age of three and a half to watch the birth of her baby brother. So now she’s aspiring to be a veterinarian. For her birthday she requested that her mommy and daddy take her out (by herself!) to visit pet shops and look at the dogs. Since her dad will be out of the country on her Easter Sunday birthday, we took her out last night to have dinner and visit pet shops. There are only 2 which sell puppies in our area. She’d have gladly taken them all home, but didn’t beg and cry to have one. After seeing the price tags we decided that maybe we did need to go into the dog business! We’ll know when the time is right. We are too busy with building our new house at this time to keep up with a puppy.
I couldn’t wait for her to open her birthday presents afterward! We got her the Only Hearts Club dolls and Ballet Theater. She didn’t even know these dolls existed. I fell in love with them the moment I saw them. She has hugged and thanked me dozens of times today. Both she and her 12 year-old sister have played with them all day. She said they are MUCH better than Barbie! These precious dolls are very realistic (from the neck up!) and have soft plain bodies very unlike Barbie! The websites I bought them from are Mary D’s and Shop4Dolls&Bears. Super service and prices!
Next Saturday she will have a surprised birthday party for friends and family. I’d not even considered a party this year until I ran across this website and knew that we just had to do everything suggested for a tremendous “Dog Party!” The guest list includes 15 children and 7 adults. I better get some rest NOW!
