Defining my Allergies

It was a rather long journey figuring out what I was allergic to. It all started at the first of the  year. I ate a tuna sandwitch and my face started swelling, eyes got puffy my lips started to puff and my tounge started to swell. (btw if this even happens to you go to the hosp don't do as I did) I took a benedryl and st with my epi pen next to me. I should have used the thing... Anyway, after that it seemed everythign I ate I had an allergic reaction. At first my husband and I thought it was just my body calming down after the intial reaction. However, that was not the case because it kept getting worse. So I finially called an allergist that my holistic friend refered me to. That was the worst week of my life. I couldn't take any allergy pills so I had to be very careful about what I ate. Chips and salsa that one day cause me to break out next time wouldn't. The allergist suggested I keep a food journal after making my appointment. So I did and I marked next to the ones I had a reaction to and I wrote down brand names as well.

At appointmet he drew 7 vials of blood for a RAST test on over 40 things. All of my tests came back negative that ment that I needed to a skin test. The Doctor told me to keep a different kind of food journal. If I reacted to it paste or tape the ingrediant list into the journal. SO I did... The result of the next test and my food journal is the list you see below.

just had to post...

Hi there, this will probably seem weird...but I just had to leave a comment as I'm probably the only person who is a mom to an only child and doesn't think your large family is strange or that all your food allergies is an odd thing. We happen to go to a church where the pastor's family has 12 children and he himself has a major corn allergy (think of all the stuff that uses corn or some form of it - practically endless but anyway) and several of his family have other food allergies (wheat, soy, milk etc)...they homeschool. Then another homeschool family has 5 kids (and they too have these same kinds of food allergies...plus they have a recently graduated from college girl who is not-related to them but lives with them who is allergic to wheat, apple, grape and tomato!) They are all the best people, and when we first met all of them it was indeed strange...and still at times I can't even imagine what it would be like to have a large family - not to mention all the allergy issues. It's funny that I came across your blog and that my tiny little allergy free (with the exception of our own kitties who make my daughter and I sneezy and itchy) family could relate to you - a large family with allergy issues - even in this odd way! I pray that God will help you adjust to life with allergies and bless you family with peace and joy!
