Even the Smallest Person can Change the Course of the Future

The Beginning

Well, I finally got a blog. I really don't know what to say right off. I can't promise you that I'll post regularly, and I can't promise you that my posts will be interesting either. I guess It will become easier the more I do it. This blog will be an enormous contrast in writing quality to my sister Sylvia's blog, but I plan on doing my best.

I guess some people who already know me might want an update on my birthday yesterday. And yup, it really was a happy day. I got some clothes that I really like, I got a bright red fuzzy house-coat that makes me look like Elmo, I got some fuzzy red slippers to match them, I got some much wanted stamps to add to my collection (yep, I'm a stamp collecter), and some book marks. I also took a trip with Sylvia downtown while my family did some shopping. We went to a books store and spent 50 *cringe* dollars on books. Yeah, they were great books too! Sylvia got The Complete Works of Oscar Wilde, War and Peace (by Tolstoy), Don Quixote, The Grapes of Wrath, C.S. Lewis for the Third Millenium (Kreeft), Emma (Jane Austen), and Tess of the D'Urbervilles. I, on the other hand, got two books, Oliver Twist (I'm a Dickens fan) and Freckles by Gene Stratton Porter. Porter also wrote A Girl of the Limberlost, which was very good; I'm excited to read more of her writing. As you could guess, Sylvia spent a litte more than me while we were there.

Well, Anyhow, once we had decided we had spent enough, we lugged our purchases down the road to a litte Cafe. There we had some cookies, ice-cream, and a Sprite. They were reeeeeeeeeeeally good. We chatted literature and thought about how when we were old grandma's we'd look back and realize what nuts we used to be....

We went home and had pizza and presents. I didn't really have a cake. Oh well, we'll just have to get some on Easter. Ha...I'm sure there will be no shortage of sweet things whatsoever. Tell me if you want details on the clothes I got (haha...no one).

Okay, enough about me. Please go over to my friend guardedmodesty's blog and wish HER a happy birthday.

About Me

I'm a young Catholic girl who loves to write. The purpose for this blog is to be a light and encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ. The reason I chose the name Halfling is because I may seem small and unimportant to the world, but even the smallest person can change the course of the future.

~the Breaking of the Fellowship~

Seek for the Sword that was broken:
In Imladris it dwells;
There shall be counsels taken
Stonger than Morgul-spells.
There shall be shown a token
That Doom is near at hand,
For Isildur's Bane shall waken,
And the Halfling forth shall stand.
