Hannah's House
• Aug. 31, 2006 - Internet friends
My family and I are leaving tomorrow, traveling 5-6 hours to meet up with some friends that I have known for 2-5 years... but never IRL. I am excited... I am nervous. It is almost surreal. I have no IRL friends close and have no hoemschool families to interact with. These are that... homeschooling families. I am blessed. I can't wait for my son to interact with their children... he is an only child. |

• Mar. 18, 2006 - Late night ramblings
Sometimes when I am tired I surf and surf, mindlessly... yuck! I wish that I were more gifted in the area of writing and putting my thoughts into words, but alas, I am not.
Well, I do want to try to apply myself more to the endeavor of blogging. We have a new laptop now that I am re-learning to type on. I am an awful typist to begin with. This is my plan though.
I have been working on lessons and getting ideas for next year... it does get my blood pumping hehehe.
Well, I will return again soon.

• Dec. 16, 2005 - Sluggishly approaching Christmas
Slowly but surely I am getting things together for Christmas. For years I have had difficulty getting into that "Christmas-y" spirit or mood. Generally afterwards I thinking "Oh I wish we would have done..." this or that. Then I vow we'll do it next year... but end up forgetting
So how does everyone else "get into it"? When do others get to being "Christmas-y"? |

• Dec. 13, 2005 - I have a front porch with rockers... COOL!
• Dec. 13, 2005 - Interceding for Snow family!!
I think I was "scared" off from blogging because I just couldn't figure it out. I was spending too much time and not producing any "fruit" so to speak.
Well, that is insignificant. I have now a burden to share the need for intercessory pray for an awesome homeschooling family, the Snows!! The mother, Melissa, who just recently had their 7th child and 1st boy, has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and has been in the hospital for going on 2 weeks (don't remember exact #, but was admitted 1st of last week with left sided numbness). They are having a rough go of it and she has been plagued with seizure to where she is unable to hold her baby or hug her daughters.
In light of this, most of my trivial complaints and challeges seem so insignificant.

• Oct. 21, 2005 - Trying again (rolls eyes!)
I haven't tried to post an entry since my melt down ("Frustration, thy name is computer!!!")
I have been battling with fatigue for way too long so have been researching possible causes and solutions for my maladies! I am mainly looking into naturalpathic and dietary type remedies and solutions. I have an idea I am probably having candida issues and I lean in that direction. I m sick and tired of being sick and tired, and sore and nonproductive!!
Ok... school! We are taking a BJU break this week! We are doing a unit study on pond life. I really like unit studies but I feel like I am giving my son a better education with the BJU. He loves to learn and I am so thankful for that!! The fatigue though is an issue with the BJU because it is so teacher intensive/centered. Both ds and I have been battling a bit of sinusitis and colds so the unit study is a break that is needed.
I am also on a quest to do some MAJOR decluttering!!!!!! The house looks like a bomb went off! So I have that on my plate too! We are down to one vehicle so we aren't going anywhere.. no excuse!! I am such a SHE (FLYLady term) and so I am needing to really get focused! On HearthKeepers there is a sort of challenge going on to clean and declutter before Thanksgiving. I am trying to join that, although I haven't done a thing towards that direction since I "committed"
Well, I shall endeavor to press on... (just gotta get off the 'puter!) |

It's a cool yucky day so inside we stay! Later! |

• Oct. 6, 2005 - Why Hannah?
I have 3 children and 2 stepchildren. 2 of my natural children were delivered right into Jesus' arms. The 1st was Zachariah David, born still, at 30 weeks gestation. 6 months later his sister Hannah Elizabeth delivered via miscarrriage at 12 weeks gestation, too early to be considered for burial so we did not have a memorial service or a grave site/stone for her like we did Zachariah. She was "born" in March of 1990, hence my use of HannahE90. My living memorial to her.
Why Hannah's House? Again a living memorial. My husband and I have a ministry, New Shiloh. One of the facets of our ministry, yet to manifest, is something the Lord laid on my heart looooong ago (it seems). Providing a temporary living facility with support and Titus2 type mentoring to unwed/single Moms and the young ones. An alternative to abortion. I envisioned a refurbished old motel with living units that would include 1 or 2 bedrooms, a living/eating area with a small, basic kitchen, and of course a bathroom. There would be a common laundry area. A safe and sheltered play area. And my big desire is to have mature Christian women mentoring them in how to be a solid Christian mom & women despite the circumstances. To model and counsel. I would like to see one on one discipleship/mentoring as well as group. I would like to see counseling in how to do this AND support her family without compromising the vison of being a Proverbs 31 woman.
Well, I decided to stretch the use of the name Hannah's House and name my blog that as well. Maybe it's keeping the vision in front of my face kind of thing! My entries here will not be just about ministry but about life... being a wife, mom, sister, daughter, friend. About home and schooling... and whatever else may arise .
So, this is my first blog entry and I survived ...hehe! |
